Aliyah’s Place was founded by Nicole Staton, a mother, advocate, author and longtime parent of a child with special needs.
The inspiration behind Aliyah’s Place is Nicole's daughter, Aliyah, who was diagnosed as an infant with a rare genetic condition called 1p36 Chromosome Deletion Syndrome.
Throughout Aliyah’s life, Nicole experienced firsthand many of the challenges families of children with disabilities face—from medical appointments, surgeries, therapies and IEPs to finding safe and appropriate care outside of school.
As a working mother, Nicole also experienced the difficult reality of trying to maintain employment while finding someone she could trust to care for a child with additional needs.
During summers and school breaks especially, appropriate options were limited. Some programs could not provide the level of assistance Aliyah needed, including help with daily-living needs or individualized support, while others could not accommodate her therapists.
Nicole wanted to create the type of place she spent years wishing existed for her own daughter—a place where parents don't have to feel that their child's disability automatically means they don't belong.
Aliyah’s Place is built around a simple belief: children should be met where they are, not expected to fit into a one-size-fits-all program.
As Founder, Nicole's vision is to create a community where children with disabilities and special needs have opportunities to build friendships, develop life skills, participate in meaningful activities, receive support and experience the same sense of belonging every child deserves.
For Nicole, this mission is deeply personal.
Aliyah’s Place isn't simply named after her daughter. It exists because of the journey they have walked together—and because Nicole believes other families deserve the support she spent years searching for.
At Aliyah’s Place Inc., our mission is to provide a safe, inclusive, supportive, and welcoming environment where children and teens with disabilities and special needs can grow, connect, learn, and simply be themselves.
We are committed to meeting each child where they are by providing individualized support, sensory-friendly activities, social and life-skills development, academic support, recreational opportunities, and a community where every child is valued.
Aliyah’s Place was created not only for the children we serve, but for their families. We understand how difficult it can be for parents and caregivers to find a place that is prepared to support their child’s unique needs. Our goal is to give families another option—a place where their children are understood, included, encouraged, and cared for with patience and compassion.
